Does Construction Defect Reporter work offline?
Yes. Projects, defects, photographs, annotations and PDF generation work on the device without an internet connection. Internet access is only needed for Google Play product loading, purchases, restoring a purchase, and opening support or policy pages.
Where are my projects and photos stored?
Project records and photographs are stored in the app's private storage on your Android device. There is no developer account, cloud database or automatic upload. You can export a backup when you choose.
What is included in a PDF report?
You can generate full inspection, trade-specific and rectification-focused PDFs. Reports can include project details, a defect register, status summaries and before, progress and after photographs with annotations.
Is there a subscription?
No. The app is free to download and use within the free limits. The optional lifetime unlock is a one-time Google Play purchase of AUD 49.99 and removes the one-active-project and 10-defect limits. Google Play may show a different local price.
Can I back up my records?
Yes. Export a .defectpack backup through Android's share sheet. Backups contain projects, defects, photos and branding and are not encrypted by the app, so store them securely. Restore a backup from the app's backup screen.
Is this a compliance certificate or structural assessment?
No. The app is an observation and reporting tool. Reports record conditions at the time of inspection and are not a certificate of regulatory compliance, a structural assessment or a substitute for professional judgement.
Is it available on iPhone?
The first release is for Android through Google Play. The project also contains an iOS Flutter target, but an iOS build has not been released or verified.
